2010 was our first full year up and running as CrazyCreatures.Org and it was certainly filled with lots of good stuff. This is a brief posting reviewing what we’ve been up to this past year and what we hope to be getting up to in 2011. This is also a big welcome to our new readers and a big thank you to our existing readers.

This past year saw Rhino’s being moved from Czech Republic back to their home in Africa in a bid to save the Northern White Rhino from extinction and all sorts of new discoveries but also there has been an increase in awareness by the public that we Humans play a very active part in what happens to the world’s environment, including trees and animals.

2010 saw CrazyCreatures.Org planted firmly on the social media map with a substantial amount of amazing photos on Flickr, and the beginnings of a YouTube Channel and Facebook Page, and a Twitter account that has just surpassed 700 followers, so a great thank you to all who support us in creating a more ‘wildlife aware world’. We hope to continue and improve our pages so people can access the information on the site easier and quicker. We are always open to your suggestions of course!

Some of our articles have proved continuously popular throughout the year including The Smiling Turtle, Frogs and Animal Martial Arts Techniques. We are finding that people are using our site more as a factual reference than anything else which is fantastic as it shows we are writing some credible material! People love fast facts so we introduced Photo Facts which is a regular feature highlighting one of our Flickr photos in more detail. Also introduced has been the Top 10 series of articles which counts down the worlds most extreme animals. 2011 will see a continuation of our 10 Facts About and a lot more of our Vital Statistics series as we get to learn more details about some crazy creatures.

We at Crazy Creatures are keen travellers, I spent most of 2010 in South America and Michaela gets around a fair bit too! We therefore decided to add the Where can I see… series of articles which have so far proven pretty popular. There are no plans for travelling in 2011 yet so maybe it’s time to take a look at some of the wildlife closer to home!

One of our aims for this year is to try to engage more people and create some kind of sounding board so people can ask questions and seek information on certain topics. As we all read a fair amount of nature/animal/wildlife books and have been known to watch a nature documentary or two, there will soon be a review section on the website which will also highlight any television spectacles of note. We are also looking for any animal writers out there to help us in providing more perspective for our readers. Please contact us if you want to contribute in any way.

Thank you very much for your support so far and we look forward to seeing you on CrazyCreatures.Org in 2011!

The Crazy Creatures Team
